FAMILY NITE
Spring - Summer 2009
Family Nite is a time for our Ascension family, community, and friends to gather on the third Tuesdays in May, June, July, and August. We join together at 6:00 pm in the Ascension Parish Hall for refreshments and sharing discussion. The movie program begins at 6:30 pm and ends around 8:30 pm.
Program
Tuesday 19 May:
Amazing Grace
This film is based on the true story of William Wilberforce whose passion was to end the British slave trade. He was greatly influenced by his minister, John Newton, who was a reformed slave ship captain. John Newton was the composer of the hymn "Amazing Grace".
Tuesday 16 June:
Bonhoeffer: Agent of Grace
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a well known Lutheran minister who actively opposed Hitler and the nazis. He paid the ultimate price for his beliefs.
Tuesday 21 July:
Mother Teresa
We have chosen to repeat this film, since it was so well received two years ago.
Tuesday 18 August:
Joshua
This is a film based on the best-selling novel by Joseph Glizone. Joshua is a story about a stranger whose mysterious "supernatural" powers inspire a small town.
Please come and bring others; all are welcome!
